Awards for excellence in the delivery of pharmaceutical services were bestowed at the 2009 Quality Summit and Excellence in Healthcare Awards ceremony held on 24/25 November 2009 at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre in Johannesburg.

November being the quality month, the Minister of Health, Dr A Motsoaledi and the Deputy Minister of Health, Dr M Sefularo joined the Department of Health to celebrate efforts and successes of quality in healthcare. The Summit discussed quality assurance and quality improvement in the health facilities in South Africa. This benchmark event was followed by an Excellence in Healthcare Awards exhibition where national finalists in all categories of Healthcare were given the opportunity to showcase their achievement and accomplishments. Winners were recognised by the Minister at the evening function.

Ms Lynda Perry Bryant scooped the 2009 SAPC/Aspen Clicks Pfizer National Pharmacist of the Year Award whilst Ms Elaine Beytell received the 2009 SAPC/Aspen Pfizer Clicks National Pharmacist’s Assistant of the Year Award. Council wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Aspen, Clicks and Pfizer for sponsoring the Awards.
